Welcome to Loopline Ceramics

My little corner of the pottery world

Hi, I'm Zoe! I'm a potter based in the beautiful Cheshire countryside, where I spend my days throwing, decorating and glazing small batches of handmade ceramics from my studio. Every piece I make begins with a lump of clay and ends with the hope that it'll become part of someone's everyday life, whether that's holding flowers on a windowsill, serving breakfast on a Sunday morning or simply bringing a smile every time it's picked up.

A rustic attic room with exposed wooden rafters and light wood floors, featuring a pale gray storage cabinet centered beneath a round window, with stools and wall decor in the room.
A person's hands and lower body are shown shaping a clay pot on a pottery wheel in a bright, wood-furnished pottery studio. Various clay tools, a mirror, and finished ceramic vessels are visible on the workbench.
A stack of white ceramic bowls with gold floral motifs sits on a distressed white wooden shelf next to a wooden spoon, with vintage books and framed art in the background.

What matters most

Thoughtfully designed

I believe beautiful things take time. Every piece is made in small batches, allowing me to focus on quality rather than quantity.

Everyday beauty

I make ceramics to be used – not hidden away. I hope they become part of ordinary moments that feel just a little more special.

Community

One of my greatest joys is meeting people through pottery. Whether it's at a market, a workshop or online, I love sharing this craft with others.

Keeping traditions alive

Growing up in Stoke-on-Trent gave me a huge appreciation for Britain's ceramic heritage. In my own small way, I hope I'm helping to keep those traditions alive for future generations.

Making personal connection through pottery

From the potteries to my pottery wheel

For as long as I can remember, pottery has been part of my story.

I grew up in Stoke-on-Trent – affectionately known as The Potteries – where ceramics have shaped the history, culture and livelihoods of generations of families. Like so many people who grew up there, members of my family all had connections to the pottery industry, and although my own path took me somewhere completely different, I always felt that creativity was quietly waiting in the background.

After spending thirty years in a career as a Police Detective, I found myself ready for a completely new chapter. It might sound like an unlikely career change, but learning something entirely new has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Today, I create pottery from my studio near Congleton, where I live with my husband Dave and our mischievous Border Terrier, Woody. I'm also incredibly lucky to be Mum to two wonderful daughters, Ella and Harriet, who have cheered me on every step of the way.

Looking back, I think pottery found me before I found pottery.

Made for everyday moments

Built on simple values

At the heart of Loopline Ceramics is a commitment to creating timeless, handmade pieces that bring beauty and joy to everyday life. Everything I make is guided by the values below.

My brand mission

At Loopline Ceramics, my mission is to create decorative and useful ceramic pieces which enrich daily life by promoting meaningful, personal connection and sparking creativity.

I will inform others in a simplistic way, to encourage a broader understanding of the complex processes involved in clay, and
the benefits of handmade products.

I am committed to creating a sense of community, giving something back to the people of Stoke on Trent, the area in which I spent my childhood and teenage years, and I will help to keep alive the practises and memories of local heritage crafts.

My brand purpose

At Loopline Ceramics, my purpose is to inspire people to understand and appreciate what the pottery industry had to offer in the past, and continues to offer today.

I create handmade decorative and functional ceramic pieces, which can be used to create pretty vignettes around the home. The imperfections of the human touch, together with authentic personal connection, will transcend an automated and template-driven future.

Learning a brand new skill in midlife, I will show how enthusiasm for a fresh challenge and a determination to overcome the fear of failure, can turn perceived barriers into pathways to achieving personal contentment.

Through sharing and engagement, and creative and thoughtful design, I will foster a sense of community to show that ceramic art is open to being enjoyed by everyone.

My creative process

Inspired by home, nature and old English kitchenalia

My designs are inspired by the things I love most:

♡ Long walks through the Cheshire countryside
♡ Browsing French brocantes during family holidays
♡ Vintage English enamelware
♡ Wildflowers growing in hedgerows
♡ Old fabrics, faded tiles and weathered colours

These influences come together to create collections that feel timeless, relaxed and quietly nostalgic.

I combine unique, handmade ceramic pieces with painterly surface designs, to introduce pottery as a piece of affordable art which will create a feeling of human connection, when used and admired.

I love pieces that don't shout for attention, but become favourites simply because they're used every day.

More than just making pots

Clay, Coffee & Conversation

One of my favourite parts of running Loopline Ceramics is talking to other makers.

Every week I share Clay, Coffee & Conversation, a series of informal interviews with potters and people working within the ceramics industry.

It's my way of celebrating the incredible talent behind handmade pottery, while helping more people discover just how much skill, history and passion goes into every piece.

If you'd like to read more stories from the studio and beyond, you'll find them all in my Journal.

Thank you for supporting me

I'd love to hear from you

Running Loopline Ceramics is still a little surreal at times.

After a lifetime in a completely different career, I feel incredibly lucky to spend my days creating with clay and sharing my work with people who appreciate handmade craftsmanship.

Every order, every workshop booking, every kind message and every visit to my little corner of the internet means more than you probably realise.

Thank you for being here and for supporting independent makers like me.

I hope one of my pieces finds its way into your home one day.
